This summer, our church family gathered at Camp Berea for teaching and fellowship. As I photographed a fuzzy caterpillar on our cabin’s porch, I thought about how many of us were just hanging on until Labor Day, hoping for life transformation through a new fall schedule. This May my daughter and I had the opportunity to attend Camp Berea's annual Mother/Daughter Retreat for the first time. Please read about my experience here.

In January of 2019, my family participated in our church’s Winter Family Getaway. The theme Home Tones reminded us to fill our lives with the teachings of Christ and fill our hearts with thanks so that we can create a wonderful home tone through playing together, praying together, giving our treasures and learning to forgive each other.

As we launch ourselves into more intentional parenting, my husband and I have started "Family Times." These are short studies in God's word, with stories and art to bring the fun. We are beginning with My ABC Bible Verses. I prep a coloring and hand-writing page for the kids to work on their letters while I read the accompanying story aloud. Then we work on memorizing the verse of the day. We add hand motions to make it exciting as well as easier to remember!
